On Tuesday, we went to the university for lunch with the School of Pharmacy’s Dean, along with Josie, other staff and the two students who are coming to NL this summer. It was great to get to meet them, and provide them with some tips about where to go, what to do, and what to pack. I’m a little sad I probably won’t get to see them the summer, but I did offer to be their tour guide service for any of the other three Atlantic provinces for a weekend during their rotation.
Anyways, after lunch Eddie gave us a little tour of the UTas Hobart campus, and he mentioned that their ocean sciences department is world class. I responded that so was ours! Did you know that Hobart is the last stop for people travelling to Antarctica? Its the main supply stop along the route! I thought that was super cool. There are two vessels out of Hobart that constantly travel to and from Antarctica for the purposes of conducting experiments and other research. The university has an entire department dedicated to studying the Antarctic. The more you know hey?
Food time for me!
