DONE PHARMACY SCHOOL

Why hello there.

As of today, I can say that I survived 5 years of blood, sweat and tears, and have finally punched the last day of my undergrad! The happiest of humans!!!!

We’re on our way to the bakery to celebrate with supper.

I did have a wonderful last day today, as we got to do a HMR, which we had prepped for yesterday, and then went back to the pharmacy to do up the report.

We also got to round at the seniors home today, and given that we were the sole pharmacy presence, it was a bit like shadowing a GP, to see how they go about their day. It was neat to be a duckling with a different profession for a change! Met some lovely residents. We also got to discuss some of the reports we had written up and faxed to the GP regarding recommendations and HMRs. I had some days felt like we were burying him in paper, but it was really nice to know that they were actually read and appreciated. Being able to follow up, and say, “Oh, well if you had to pick the most important issue for this person, it would be this”, then having him agree, and then make an appointment to further investigate, was so meaningful. Like yes, this is what I did 5 years of blood, sweat and tears for!! I know things, and I want to know more things, and I can play on your team!!!!

A perfect dessert to tie me over and motivate me for the next month and a half, while I slave to prepare for PEBCs.

We then had curried scallops and creme brΓ»lΓ©e pudding which the ladies Scrabble group had put aside for us.

It was pretty good! The scallops had these weird side pieces on them, like at home they’re just round? It was similar to the tip of a lobster claw?
Also, I thought Dad would appreciate this. As we walked down to the home, I noticed this guy with a chainsaw, which was on the end of this teloscopic arm, and he was using it to trim a gum tree. As we left, they had gathered up all the tree trimmings, mulched them on site and were driving them away in a truck. Like a one stop shop.

Anyways, so ends our time in Nubeena. I am truly re-evaluating the five year plan. I’m not sure I could ever travel somewhere for two weeks, and call it seeing a place again. Having long enough to actually experience a culture and integrate with the locals is so much richer. Might have to start looking into how to do relief work in Ireland or Tassie for 2017, lol, or at the very least seeing how to apply these principles into a vacation-style time frame.
Now to play suitcase Tetris. Game is on Virgin Australia, the game is on.

Given where you are, may I share with you that I just received word today that the three conference proposals for the conference I told you about back in January were accepted so I will be heading to Australia end of June…alas only for two weeks I suspect and I agree that is never long enough to experience another place and culture…just wish the timing had been different to be there when you were ;-(.
